Pakistani beauty Veena Malik debuts in Bollywood
A middle class, man Daboo (Anand Balraj) in his forties and with luck not on his side, is deeply in love with a budding actress Madam Malai (Veena Malik) who completely ignores him. This Madam Malai is an over ambitious person, an aspiring starlet in Bolywood.
One day, Mr. Daboo strikes it rich and becomes wealthy with hitting a jackpot of inheritance. He decides to put in all the money to produce and finance a film for Madam Malai. Pleasantly surprised, Madam Malai informs her boyfriend who makes a plan to rob and cheat Mr. Daboo.
Agreeing with the boyfriend but confused what to do but then finally she goes to Dabu and tells him they cannot fly with so much of money and they should hire a car and make their journey by road. According to their plan, Madam Malai convinces Daboo to go for a long drive with her, book a lavish hotel outside Mumbai and then talk it over about her launch film.
It is the stupidity of starlet’s secretary that they leave behind scent of money with the unwanted people who are now suspicious that “Daal mein kuchh kala hai”.
Now as the couple kicks-off their journey, the manager of Madam Malai (Kishore Bhanushali) informs his close associates living in his area, Chilambhai and Pathandada (Irfan Malik and Ali Hasan) along with Raja Chaudhary, about the bag full of money and they all makes one more plan to rob and cheat Mr. Daboo.
On the other side, the young and handsome car driver Charlie(Vijay Raaz), wonders what the beautiful girl is doing with a man twice her age. There is also a jail breaker criminal Chunnabhai (Shakti Kapoor) and others who smell something odd amongst the strange couple of middle-aged man and gorgeous beauty, that Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai!
They come across a road block and with heavy rains, there is no other way to go except to the spot a where they see some lights on nearby where they find a beautiful palace built in memory of a beautiful lady. They decide to take their shelter for the night.
Given shelter by the palace manager, and as the rainy storm gets stronger and they delay their stay.
They get to realize that the palace is haunted by the presence of a soul, yet they choose to ignore its existence. In the meanwhile, the unwanted group of people who are tracking them also reach the palace.
The palace is inhibited by the spirit of a beautiful angel who then transforms herself into duplicate of the starlet Madam Malai, and makes everyone run for the money – some are interested in only the money while others want the money as well as the girl (the spirit who is in human form).
What forms next is when this entire ‘mandali”is after the money of Mr. Daboo. The story has a twist where a spooky ghost enters in all of their life, which in turn makes the movie more entertaining.
Written and Directed by Anand Balraj, Daal Mein… has an illogical screenplay, where one doesn’t need to apply any logic, and the film tries to push a dosage of laughter, which works only in a few situations in the first half, but thereafter a supposedly bit twist in the tale, where the story takes on a spooky mode.
Directed by Anand Balraj the story has many goof-ups and the result is yet another ‘me too’ comic film.
